The Dissent Begins: ActsFive29 Coalition to Pray and Risk Arrest at White House

Citizens rally against the ObamaCare abortion mandate on June 8.

A coalition of citizens is organizing a peaceful prayer vigil and rally at the White House to protest the Obama administration's HHS mandate, which it characterizes as an unlawful government demand that citizens bow down to policies that they believe are intrinsically evil.  The vigil and associated activities are planned for Sept. 28-30, and will include a group walk to a site directly in front of the White House, where participants plan to risk arrest by refusing to leave if police order them to disperse.

The coalition has taken the name ActsFive29, referring to the Bible verse that reads: “Peter and the other apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than man.”

Participating organizations include:

Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust
Christian Defense Coalition
Stand Up For Religious Freedom
Pro-life Action League
CEC for Life
Operation Rescue

The  founding declaration of ActsFive29 states: "For the faith community, we can never be silent or indifferent when it comes to matters of justice, human rights and religious liberty.  We want to make it clear to President Obama and all public officials that we would rather spend time in a dark prison cell than be coerced into complying with an immoral and unjust government mandate...We will stand against injustice even if that means going to jail!"

"Again, the government is threatening to take the freedoms of its people — of the preborn, and of the multitude who in good conscience cannot and will not participate in their killing. This is our Birmingham. We must risk arrest, or we must resign ourselves to the betrayal of our fellow men, of our God. Arrest is not immoral, nor is it wrong: sometimes it is the duty of a people holding their country accountable, and we are a country built on shoulders of men who risked war, arrest, false accusations of treachery, to protect these God-given, 'self-evident' rights."
